In my presentations I have a section on writing a book. When I am asked where you start, I answer from the middle. I tell them you can’t write the beginning or the end until you know how the book plays out. Here is a slide that looks at the structure of my book where I used the FDR chapter:
- Historical narrative sets the stage for each chapter by putting the issue into context.
- The strategy section in each chapter explains what each president did to manage the issue
- The lessons section contains the lessons we can learn from the president’s approach.
